The 2025 edition of the beach soccer variant of CONMEBOL's Copa América kicks off tomorrow (22 February). With ten teams set to battle out to be crowned Copa América Champions, here is a rundown of everything you need to know ahead of the tournament.

The 2025 Copa América of Beach Soccer (known natively in Spanish as the Copa América Fútbol Playa) will be the fifth edition of the competition. The tournament is for South American men's national teams and will act as CONMEBOL's qualifying tournament for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. It will be held at Cavancha Beach in Iquique, Chile, from 22 February to 2 March.
Competition Format
The tournament consists of two stages: the group stage and the finals stage. In the group stage, the ten competing teams are split evenly into two groups. Each team will play the other four teams in their group, earning three points for a win in regulation time, two points for a win in extra time and one point for a win via penalty shootout. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, and the teams finishing in third to fifth place will play an additional match in the finals stage to determine positions 5-10.

In the group stage, four games will be played per day between February 22 and 27 (except February 25, when no games are played). March 1 sees the two teams that finish 5th in their respective groups play each other to determine 9th and 10th place, and the two teams that finish 4th in their respective groups play each other to determine 7th and 8th place. The day will then wrap up with the two semi-finals. March 2 begins with a match between the two teams that finish 3rd in their respective groups play each other to determine 5th and 6th place. Then, the two teams that lose the semi-finals will play in a third-place play-off match before the grand final, which will decide the Copa América Champions.
The Groups
The draw to split the ten teams into two groups took place on 11 November 2024 at the CONMEBOL headquarters in Paraguay.
As tournament hosts, Chile were automatically assigned to Group A. Competing alongside them in this group is Colombia, Uruguay, Bolivia and Ecuador.
Brazil were automatically assigned to Group B as the reigning champions, winning the tournament's previous edition in 2023. Group B also features Argentina, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
Who Qualifies for the World Cup?
The two finalists and the team that wins the third-place play-off will earn a place in the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place later this year from May 1 to May 11 in Seychelles.
