Reigning champions Brazil hold onto their title by defeating Paraguay in the final of the 2025 Copa América competition.

The final took place on the 2nd of March on the beaches of  Iquique in Chile and saw two former winners go head to head for what was certain to be a thriller! Having previously lost in the group stages to Paraguay, Brazil were desperate to right their wrong on the biggest stage possible.

The game was back and forth from the start with Brazil opening the scoring through the help of Benjamin Jr with a beautifully executed bicycle kick, setting the tone for the match ahead. Almost instantly, Paraguay had come back with a goal of their own courtesy of Thiago Barrios who took the freekick with immense power, opting for the low driven shot which flew past goal goalkeeper Bobô.

Bobô managed to grab himself a goal through a tremendous piece of individual skill which consisted of several kick ups and a volley from distance leaving the Paraguayan goal keeper bewildered.

The goals continued to flow in this game with the score at half-time ending 3-3 both teams in need of a break after their intense first half.

The second period saw Brazil take the lead once again, and kept this lead until the third period, which is where the game was ultimately decided.

With the pressure of time ticking on, Paraguay upped their efforts for one final push, the hope of victory still very much in their minds. They managed to keep the game alive through a goal late on but the buzzer sounded, meaning Brazil were once again champions after a 5-4 victory against Paraguay.

Despite the loss, Paraguay have booked their place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which is an achievement to be proud of nevertheless.

This is Brazil’s fourth CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa consolidating their reputation as a top team in the beach soccer world.

This leads to the question, is there any team in the world better than Brazil right now?
